Welcome to Children’s Conference and Child Care for Annual Conference 2017! We know that traveling to Annual Conference as a family presents both unique challenges and opportunities. It is our hope that our child care offering will provide your children an opportunity to make friends, have fun, practice being a disciple and see that they are special members of the gathered body of Christ.
It is challenging to provide for all the needs of children at Annual Conference. The schedule is long and the facilities are limited. We have done our best to provide good care for your children so that you can participate in the sessions and so your children will have a good experience. Please help us provide helpful care and programming for future years with your honest and helpful feedback!
Children ages infant to four are welcome in our Nursery. We will have Safe Sanctuaries compliant nursery caregivers in a two room hotel suite converted to a nursery. They will have a changing table, wipes, rocking chairs, toys and pack and play cribs. Please provide your own diapers and a change of clothes. They will have access to the hotel’s tennis courts for outdoor play.
Children ages five to outgoing 6th graders are welcome at Children’s Conference. Children’s Conference will be run by site staff from Twinlow Camp in the Pacific Northwest Conference. They will have activities that will help them have fun, make friends and be disciples of Jesus. They will have use of a mid-size meeting room, a two bedroom suite with a kitchenette, and an outdoor play area on the hotel’s tennis courts.
Child care in the Nursery and the Children’s Conference is offered from 7:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Thursday and Friday for our shared annual conference session. It is also being offered from 8:30 am to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, the final day.
Child Care is not being offered during the evening; children are welcome to accompany their parents during the planned evening events. If there is significant demand for additional hours of care after dinner, we may offer childcare in future years.
It is assumed that a parent would be on premises, or a short drive away, in the case of an emergency or some other need. Please plan on having a cell phone available in case such a need arises.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided and prepared by the nursery staff. Please make note of special dietary considerations so the appropriate food (vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.) can be provided. If your child has more challenging food needs, please contact Meredith Gudger-Raines (email@example.com) to arrange for providing your own food.
Nursery care and Children’s Conference will end at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and your child will need to eat dinner with you. Dinners are $10 per child and will be age appropriate meals (i.e., grilled cheese and fruit). If your child is not old enough for their own meal, they can eat off your plate or eat food that you bring with you. Please note: If you do not purchase a meal for your child, they must sit on your lap. The hotel staff will automatically serve any person sitting in their own chair, and the Annual Conference will be billed for those meals. If you would like your child to join you at dinner and not eat off your plate, you must purchase a meal for them.
Child care is being offered for the children of lay and clergy members for $20 per child per day; care is not available for guests. This is inclusive of breakfast, lunch and snacks; materials for crafts and the like; and professional staffing. As mentioned above, Thursday and Friday dinners are $10 per child. The majority of the cost of the childcare and Children’s Conference will be covered by the Annual Conference budget.
Partial scholarships are available for those who cannot afford this cost.
To ensure our ability to provide adequate care for children attending Annual Conference 2017, please register your child(ren) by Wednesday, May 17. We may not be able to offer refunds after this date so please plan accordingly.
