Puyallup, WA \u2014<\/strong> Puyallup United Methodist Church is pleased to announce the opening of its new Community Prayer Labyrinth<\/a>, a peaceful outdoor space designed for reflection, prayer, and renewal. The labyrinth is open to the public daily during daylight hours at 1919 W. Pioneer Ave., Puyallup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation marks the culmination of a multi-year journey that began with a simple canvas labyrinth and later, a temporary version painted on the church lawn. The vision for a permanent, accessible, and welcoming outdoor labyrinth grew from the congregation\u2019s desire to create a spiritual resource that could be shared with the broader community year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n

The congregation and staff collaborated on every stage of the project\u2014from shaping the vision and managing technical details in the bid process to securing permits, fundraising, and construction. When the surface was finally completed and weather conditions allowed, the intricate labyrinth design was hand-drawn and painted. Materials from construction were reused to expand the church\u2019s food garden, and the space was beautifully dedicated during Easter with landscape plants in place of traditional floral arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finished Puyallup Community Labyrinth is ADA accessible, offering a smooth, secure surface for people of all ages and abilities, including those using walkers, scooters, or wheelchairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth follows a single continuous path to the center and back. Walking it provides an opportunity to integrate body, mind, and spirit\u2014creating space to bring questions, release burdens, and listen for divine guidance. Though rooted in Christian tradition, the labyrinth is open to people of all faiths\u2014or none at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help visitors get started, Ginny Christensen, a certified Labyrinth Facilitator and member of Puyallup UMC, will be available at the site on October 19 from 4\u20135 p.m. to offer instruction and answer questions.
