The conference is intentionally designed to \u201cengage, encourage, and empower innovative, missional practitioners as they go about practicing the way of Jesus in place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInhabit is focused on community engagement\u201d says Rev. Dr. Leroy Barber, GNW Director of Innovation for an Engaged Church. Joining Barber as a presenter at Inhabit this year is the Rev. Shalom Agtarap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/greaternw.org\/meet-the-innovation-vitality-team\/\">GNW Innovation Vitality Team<\/a> is offering a special pre-conference session on Thursday, April 25, the day before the two-day main conference. Clergy or lay people interested in planting new churches and bringing new vitality to existing ministry are encouraged to attend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-conference attendees will learn from Melvin Bray, an Emmy\u00ae award-winning storyteller, social entrepreneur and author.&nbsp;Bray is the author of a United Methodist Women Reading Program 2019 book pick,&nbsp;\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Better-Waking-Up-Who-Could\/dp\/082720308X\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Melvin+Bray&amp;qid=1553789006&amp;s=gateway&amp;sr=8-1\">BETTER: Waking Up to Who We Could Be<\/a><em>.<\/em>\u201d Melvin will help participants examine the role of various forms of power in moving from critical analysis to better practices.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pre-conference is designed to equip leaders for building better connections within their communities, specifically with those on the margins and people of color. \u201cThis is core foundational work\u201d says Rev. Dr. William Gibson, GNW Director of Innovation for a New Church. \u201cThis is work that needs to be done to prepare to engage with diverse communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pre-conference will be held at Seattle\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/firstchurchseattle.org\">First United Methodist Church<\/a>, April 25 from 9 am. to 4 p.m. As a bonus, the first 25 registered for the United Methodist day will receive free admission to the two-day Inhabit event.
