The Pacific Northwest Conference celebrates the vibrant ministry of El Dios Viviente Hispanic/Latinx United Methodist Church in Seattle, a congregation that continues to embody the Gospel through faithful discipleship, community engagement, and transformational ministry.

During the past few weeks, the congregation celebrated two significant milestones that reflect its deep commitment to nurturing faith and strengthening families.

The first celebration took place at Seward Park, where members of the congregation gathered to witness the joy of several baptisms. Surrounded by family, friends, and the beauty of God’s creation, these baptisms marked new beginnings in Christ and served as a powerful reminder of the Church’s calling to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

The congregation also gathered for its annual Family Camp at Twinlow Camp and Retreat, where children, youth, and adults experienced a weekend of worship, fellowship, learning, recreation, and spiritual renewal. Family Camp provided a sacred space for strengthening relationships, growing in faith, and building a stronger community rooted in God’s love.

These events are more than celebrations—they reflect the ongoing ministry of El Dios Viviente UMC in the Seattle community. The congregation has become a place of welcome, hope, and belonging for Hispanic/Latinx families, including many immigrants seeking spiritual support, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to serve others. Through its ministry, the church demonstrates that vibrant congregations are built not only through worship on Sundays but also through intentional investments in families, leadership development, and community engagement throughout the year.

The Pacific Northwest Conference is honored to partner with El Dios Viviente UMC in this important ministry. Their commitment to sharing the love of Christ, strengthening families, and serving their neighbors is making a lasting impact throughout the region.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Gerardo Guzmán and the dedicated leaders and volunteers whose faithful service continues to inspire others across our Conference. Their vision, perseverance, and passion for ministry have made El Dios Viviente UMC a model of vibrant Hispanic/Latinx ministry and an inspiration for many congregations seeking to reach their communities with the hope of the Gospel.

As we celebrate these joyful moments, we also celebrate the faithful witness of a congregation that continues to live out its mission with compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith.

May God continue to richly bless the ministry of El Dios Viviente Hispanic/Latinx United Methodist Church as they faithfully serve Christ and their community for years to come.
