The cost of higher education shouldn’t be a factor when considering a school to attend, but for many, it is often the largest stumbling block. The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation aims to make attending college and seminary more affordable for Methodist students. Every year, the non-profit organization awards $2+ million to students planning to attend one of the 100+ United Methodist-related schools in the country. Applications are now open here for the following scholarship opportunities.

UM DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS: A matching program that begins with a $1,000 scholarship from your church, which UMHEF matches. Additional matches may come from participating UM-related schools and UM Conference Foundations for a total award of up to $4,000. Read full details.

GENERAL NAMED ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS: One application considers you for 130+ scholarships funded by various endowments. Amounts and criteria vary. Read full details.

Select specialty awards are also available for students attending UM-related HBCUs, students of ethnically diverse backgrounds, those entering service to the church, and more.

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2023. Scholarships offered by UMHEF are separate from those offered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM). You are welcome to apply for both but must apply for UMHEF awards through our website.
