Bishop Elaine JW Stanovsky announces the intention to hold in-person commissioning of provisional elders and deacons and ordination services across the Greater Northwest Episcopal Area this summer. The three services, part of the sacred tradition for ordaining, commissioning, receiving, and recognizing new clergy leaders within The United Methodist Church, will be the first in the area since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each service will welcome candidates who were approved for ordination and commissioning by their clergy colleagues during sessions in both 2020 and 2021. Those being commissioned and ordained, will gather in person under COVID_19 protocols with the bishop and member of the Boards of Ordained Ministry. Attendance will be limited to candidates, invited sponsors and guests, and worship leaders.

All three sessions will be livestreamed so that the public may celebrate this important milestone in the life of these provisional elders, elders in full connection, provisional deacons and deacons in full connection.

The services will be held Friday, June 25 in the Seattle area, Saturday, June 26 in the Portland area and Friday, Aug. 13 in the Boise area. Put the following times on your calendar:
