Installation Service for Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth
About this Service
The Episcopacy Committees and other leaders of the Alaska, Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Conferences invite you to the Service of Installation for Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth on Saturday, May 20th at 2 p.m. (AKT)/3 p.m. (PT)/ 4 p.m. (MT). An invited group of leaders from across the area will participate in the event as hosted in Juneau, Alaska, by Aldersgate United Methodist Church. An offering will be taken to benefit the GNW Circle of Indigenous Ministries.
Following the installation service, Bishop Cedrick will gavel in the opening session of the Greater Northwest Area’s annual conferences. During a short plenary, members will receive a few area-level reports and celebrate several ministry successes.
Bishops are the spiritual leaders in the church who provide the ministry of servant leadership, general oversight and supervision within The United Methodist Church. They are to lead with a vital and renewing spirit; an enquiring mind and commitment to teaching; with vision and commitment to transform the Church and the world; with a passion for the unity of the church; and with a ministry of administration (¶403, 2016 Book of Discipline).
Bishop Cedrick was elected and consecrated in November 2022 at the Western Jurisdictional Conference that took place at Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City, UT. This installation service celebrates Bishop Cedrick’s assignment to the Greater Northwest Area as our resident bishop.
