Join Bishop Cedrick Bridgeforth of the Greater Northwest Episcopal Area in conversation with others about calling on his new podcast: “Going the M.I.L.E.: Stories of Calling and Ministry in the Greater Northwest,” which launches today.

Each episode features different clergy and laity and how they explore their callings, share their gifts and shape communities with courage and grace. The conversations include folks from the Greater Northwest Area, along with notable seekers and ministers in The United Methodist Church connection.

“From pastors and planters to chaplains, creatives, and everyday disciples—each episode invites you to listen in on the sacred stories of real people responding to a real God, in real life,” said Bridgeforth.

The idea for the podcast came as Bridgeforth pondered the historic Wesleyan understanding that “all can serve.” It also relates to the GNW practice of going the M.I.L.E. through lay leadership enhancement. Doing this exploration through a podcast seemed a natural fit for conversations on how people can call out the gifts in each other and explore it together.

“It allows people to hear other stories and reflect on their own stories,” he said.

Listeners will hear from people like EJ Ragual, a young adult involved with the Christmas Institute and youth ministry in the Pacific Northwest Conference. They’ll also hear from Sally Vonner, General Secretary and Executive Director of United Women in Faith. Rev. Anna Hoesly from Storyline Community in Portland will explore her call to be in community.

“Whether you’re in an active ministry, discerning your next step, or simply curious about how faith meets purpose, we’re glad you’re here,” Bridgeforth said.

Each week for the next few months, a new podcast will be released.
